The elevator made a low hum and a slight clanging noise as it ascended to the top floor from the basement. Hands in his black slacks he casually stepped out into the main office. He only mildly wondered where everyone was. Frankly, it was nice to come up to a quiet office.
He walked up the two steps that lead to the door and to the file cabinets on the left side. Opening up the first drawer he went through the papers with his fingers, searching for the paper work from the last case. He paused, finger resting on the "H" file.
Case. It was odd classifying the work he did as "cases". But ever since Cordy came up with the idea to turn their efforts into a business, the term stuck.
He shook his head and returned to searching. For some reason, he was having real difficulty finding what he was looking for. He wondered why. He was sure he gave the papers to Cordelia yesterday to file.
Upon closer inspection of the files he realized they were out of order...or rather, not in any order that made sense. Angel rolled his eyes.
Where is she?
He tried hard to understand her sometimes. He really did.

Cordelia re-entered the office, wondering if her colleagues would be there yet. She'd gone back out to buy a coffee after seeing they hadn't been there when she arrived, even now making a face at the one in the office that she was expected to drink. Upon looking around when she got there, she saw Angel by the file cabinet.
"Nice to see your finally here. Wish I could sleep in like you." Cordelia pulled a face at him, making it beyond obvious she was only stirring. She stopped and realised he looked sort of lost. She put down her bag and looked to Angel with a smile. "Anything I can help with?"

Angel watched as Cordy entered, his brow furrowed. He glanced back at the jumbled files and then at Cordy, clearly frustrated.
"Cordy, I told you to filed those papers yesterday. I can't find the last case. His name was Adrien Heath? Guy with the demons living under his bed? Why can't I find it?"
He gave her a quizzical look, waiting for an explanation.

Cordelia held back a laugh at the look of frustration on Angel's face. She couldn't help it... he was always walking around being broody and silent... it was good for him to show some emotion from time to time. She moved closer to Angel and the cabinet, knowing full well the file he asked for was in there.
"I filed it straight away, so it is in there." Cordelia told him in a confident tone, then went straight to a section and grabbed the first one her hand rested on. "I take it you didn't look in the A's, did you?"
She handed the file to him with raised eyebrows. "You know... A for Adrien?"

Angel took the file as Cordelia handed it to him.
A for Adrien?
Angel laughed a bit. "Cordy, you organized everything by first name?" He looked down at the file, shook his head and walked pass her to the desk. He was going to let it go, but on second thought...
"You know...the rest of the world files by last name," He added, looking up from the papers. He gazed back down at them and shuffled through them. What were the names of those demons?

Cordelia's expression turned to a confused one when Angel let out a laugh. But she smiled again when he told her about normal filing systems.
"What, we can't be a little different? I am not a sheep, Angel." Cordelia said that thinking about how she accused Harmony of being a sheep and that memory made her cringe. She didn't like to think how she used to be. She liked who she was now, helping people who needed it... it gave her more satisfaction.
"Anyway, I think it's more easy, don't you?" She said but paused for a moment as she thought. "What did you want his file for? Do we have another case?" Cordelia added brightly.

After asking the question, Angel turned his attention completely towards the file, not really listening fully to Cordy's answer or question. He turned to her briefly after she asked it.
"I, uh..." He looked at the papers again. Kenoku demons. Of course. He tried to remember the particulars of their origin. For the last two weeks all they've dealing with were generally harmless, although smelly, demons such as those of the Kenoku clan. The more he thought about it, the more strange that was to him. When things were quiet like this, he tended to feel as if he were standing still. Sure the world was a better place minus the stench and sliminess, but was it so bad to want to tackle something a little more...significant?
Angel shook his head and sighed, slapping the file on the desk and then leaning against it. He was over thinking things. It wasn't long since Doyle died and when ever there was a dry spell, Angel felt even worse sitting around and doing relatively nothing.
Angel hid his internal thoughts while pressing his lips together, preparing a response for Cordy. "It's nothing. I thought I saw a pattern in the previous cases we've done. Figured there might be something to it."
Something "to" midget demons making a nest under some woman's bed? Right.
He glanced at the door then at the ground. God, he needed a good case to work on and fast.
He cleared his throat and said dryly, "So how are you Cordy?" He asked that question for many reasons, the most important one being how she was coping with the fairly new visions she's received.

((Hmmm ok Well I think i should play reformed Faith...after Angel helps her.))
Gravel crunched under her boots as she walked along the familiar streets. The day was cool and she could faintly see her breath as she exhaled and looked up at the sky. She hitched her half-full duffel bag higher onto her shoulder and continued her journey.
This was her first night of freedom. She was let out earlier today, and after checking in with her parole officer and making the obligatory appointment with her assigned shrink, she caught the first bus out of LA.
Faith stared at the ominous building for what seemed like hours before she finally got the courage to go to the door. She wasnt sure what she was doing here, but Angel was the only one who cared enough to help her and he did say that she had to visit if she ever got out. So now here she was, homeless and hungry.
Faith sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, this was it, her first start to redemption. Faith reached for the door handle and let herself in. She looked around and the first person she saw was Angel. "Uhhh Hey" Faith said awkwardly. Right then she felt like high tailing the hell out of there, but she stayed put, knowing that she had to make things right once and for all.

(oh yeah sorry. Yes it's season one. ANd Faith, awesome that ur joining in)
Angel looked up and saw Faith enter the door, duffel bag in hand. She was out. As he looked at her, he was overcome for a brief moment with memories of the night where Faith had begged him to kill her.
"Faith...hey," Angel said just as awkwardly, quite surprised to see her again. Now that she was released, he knew her journey towards redemption would get even tougher. It's a different story when your life isn't restrained behind bars.
Angel recovered from his shock and finally said, "Come in," He glanced at Cordy, a warning glance, hopefully preventing her from saying anything smart. "I'm glad you came," he said sincerely and delicately to Faith. "When were you released?"

Cordelia's face dropped, almost dramatically. She'd been hoping Angel had come across a new case, mainly for something to do. Something to take their minds off the loss of Doyle. Something to prevent her from going mad with grief and boredom.
"Oh." Was all she could manage, disappointment obvious in her eyes. She looked back at Angel after dropping her gaze to the ground and tried to smile again. "Well, that's good, isn't it? That no one's about to die." However, any fool could see that Cordelia wasn't pulling off her attempt to perk back up.
Then she dropped her smile again, losing the energy to keep one on her face. "How am I? I'm just..." Cordelia stopped mid-sentence at the sound of someone entering. Maybe this was it... something or someone to keep them occupied. Then she saw who it was. Perfect.
She moved towards Faith, ignoring Angel's warning glance. "Isn't this a lovely surprise!" Cordelia moved to pull the Slayer in the room further by the arm but remembered this girl could still be dangerous. Cordelia dropped her hand to her side and looked around nervously, glad that Angel was right behind her. "It's so good to see you!"
The huge smile she gave Faith wasn't as fake as the last one, because hopefully Faith could help them as much as they could help her. She was aware that Angel was feeling like she was... bored and in the need of a distraction.

Faith dropped her duffel bag onto the closet chair. She smiled nervously at Angel. He looked exactly the same from the last time he came to visit....not that she expected anything else. She then glance at Cordy who came towards her, also looking the same. Faith flinched slightly waiting for her to attack or slap or even pull her hair, But it didnt come.
She unclenched her fingers slowly and said. " Ummm I just got out a couple of hours ago, still on parole though...." Faith looked around, then continued. "I didnt really have a place to go so...I mean i could probably get a room at some crap motel....." Faith left her sentence hanging. She didnt really know if she was welcome here, with what she had done.
Faith then glanced at Angel. "You said to drop by if I ever got out.......And I guess I wana start by making things right...you know rendemption or whatever" Faith said in almost a whisper. She hated doing this, showing her weaker side. She was so wraped up in her bad girl bravado for most of her life that she didnt know any different. So when she forced to show her vulnerable side it freaked her out.

Angel sighed, pressing his lips together, irritated at Cordelia's exaggerated behavior. He listened to Faith and nodded. "It is good to see you, Faith. You're always welcome here," he said sincerely. His face was grave, however. He knew that this would be a long, hard road. He didn't need to tell her for his thoughts were etched in his expression. Angel knew that she was aware of the seriousness of her battle towards redemption just as much as he did.
"You can stay downstairs...for as long as you need to." He said. He stole a glance again at Cordelia, just to make sure she was in line. The last thing he wanted to happen was for Faith to be disheartened by Cordy's infamous taunting. "...and help us out around here for a bit. We could use it." He thought about the cases they've had recently and scratched the back of his head uncomfortably. "...I mean, it's been kind of....slow, lately. But we could use your help...soon. Fairly soon. I'm sure."
He cleared his throat and looked at her with an uneasy grin. "You up for it?" The question was a loaded one.

Faith smirked a little. "Me pass up a good fight?...I think not" She then thought about it..could she get back into the swings of things so easily?..she didnt think so. But she did know that she would try..however long it took her to make up for all the pain she had caused. She knew Angel wasnt going to make it easy for her...she had to feel what it was like, that she knew.
"I dont want to put you outta ya own bed" Faith said to Angel. "So ill take the couch.....I've slept on worse" Faith picked up her Duffel bag and put it over her shoulder. She only had a few things in there. I pair of jeans, two shirts, toothbrush and about $20 cash she found.
"Show us the way boss" She said to Angel, even though she knew the way around the place.
