Buffy forced herself to keep her eyes open, but her body was starting to go numb, like she was losing the blood flow to them. She remained on the floor and when Angel came over to her, she couldn't even manage to smile. The look he gave her chilled her even more and she was already feeling colder than cold. The softness of his voice and his touch was still making her hang in there, and that she was thankful for. Buffy gave one nod of her head to indicate she'd heard what Angel had said, but she knew he was lying when he said she'd be okay. She already knew Desmond had poisoned her and that it was doubtful she'd live.
"No..." Buffy whispered when Angel walked out the door, but he didn't stop so she doubted he heard her. Tears were forming in her eyes... if she had to die, she wanted to die with the one she loved by her side. Somehow she could hear everything they were saying in the other room and it felt like her heart had actually stopped when Desmond was planning the same for Willow. There was no way that Willow could go through this!
It was then she realised that she was alone in that room except for Faith. Buffy made an effort just to look at the other slayer. "Faith, help... Willow... don't let... the same... happen to... to her." That one sentence almost killed her to say but she had to make sure someone could help her best friend. However, all her strength had just left her and she passed out once again but before she did, she couldn't help wondering if she had enough luck to regain consciousness again.

Willow surpressed a scream as Desmond picked her up, she didn't struggle, she just let the tears fall down her face and she glared at Desmond, "Bring. Buffy. Back. First" She said through gritted teeth, not to sound more menacing, but the stop herself from screaming. Desmond's eyes were burning into hers and they were getting closer, she could feel her body shaking with terror, she used enough force to stop her head from moving too fast, "Let her go, and I'm all yours." She said, holding her head in place.

"Faith, help... Willow... don't let... the same... happen to... to her."
Faith turned to face the other slayer. She didn't like seeing Buffy that way. True, they didn't always get along, but Buffy was always the strong one. She always saved the day. Now her health was diminishing; Buffy was dying.
Faith nodded to her and rose from the ground. Her fists clenched as she listened to the conversation taking place in the next room.
"Let her go, and I'm all yours."
It was Willow.
And she was in trouble.
As Faith made her way over to the the others, something changed. It was as if everything was in slow motion.
She felt an intense heat surround her body. She didn't know what was happening to her, but she wasn't scared.
It just came to her.
All of a sudden, she knew she had nothing to worry about. Everything was going to be alright. She knew the only way to save Buffy would be to kill Desmond. It all made perfect sense. And she knew that she was stronger than him. She had the power...
Faith walked over to the vampire, who was holding Willow, and grabbed his shoulder.
"Put her down," she ordered

Angel stayed on the ground for a moment, his body aching from, again, being thrown around like a doll. The impact of the ground made his insides seem to break. It was times like these that he was grateful he wasn't alive.
He rolled on his back slowly, grimacing. He heard Desmond threatening Willow and he attempted to stand, but was certainly having trouble doing that much.
Suddenly he saw Faith approach Desmond. "Faith," he whispered, looking on. She seemed different, more determined. Stronger. He could sense it.
Angel managed to get to his feet, although he was clearly in pain. His eyes scanned the area and he saw the rest of the vampires cower. They sensed it too.
"Oh god, we're all doomed..." The spiky-haired vampire said, backing away.
Angel narrowed his eyes at Desmond. He didn't know what 'rule' he broke but that didn't stop Angel from chastising him about it. "Looks like," He responded, his voice raspy with pain. He swallowed. "That's what happens when you break the rules of black magic. Things go a bit astray."
Desmond glared at Angel and then turned to Faith. "Put her down," she said. "Then what? You're gonna kill me?" He snickered. He looked around at the other vampires, sensing their fear. He didn't have anything to worry about as far as he was concerned so he kept his smug expression. "Better come up with a better plan. Because you can't." He approached her, standing right in front of her face. "So what are you going to do. Mm?"
"She's going to kill us..." The spiky-haired one whispered, backing away more.
Faith, get away, Angel thought. His eyes shifted from Desmond to Faith, half fearful that she was in serious danger, and half believing that she was perfectly fine. So he was rendered silent and stood still.

"So what are you going to do. Mm?"
"She's going to kill us..."
That's when Desmond swung at Faith, smirking to himself.
Immediatly his screams rang out desperatly as she caught his fist in her palm and crushed it.
He sank to his knees dramatically.
"YOU BIIIITCH, LET GO OF-"
"Shh!" Faith whispered soothinly, placing a finger to her lips. "I'm calling the shots now, big-boy."
The spiky-haired vampire backing away caught her eye and Faith got an idea.
Her attention returned to Desmond and she caved his chest in with her foot.
"You're pathetic," she spat at him. "And you," she said indicating the spiky-haired vamp. "If you want to live, you'll tell me exactly what i need to know....how do i kill this guy?"

Angel was a reassured when Faith started to hand some hurt to Desmond. Gradually starting to recover from his injuries, he wondered why all of this was happening. He thought back to what was said before. It was clear that Desmond bent some kind of rule by planting whatever spell he conjured up on Buffy. Maybe Faith's new found strength was a side effect. Desmond probably didn't think about the effects of there being two slayers. Crazy things happen when it came to the dark arts.
"If you want to live, you'll tell me exactly what i need to know....how do i kill this guy?" Faith said.
The vampire's didn't hide his panic. "I don't know! I swear!"
"Better start telling her what you do know." Angel said. "Don't want to make the slayer mad."
His eyes darted from Angel to Faith. "Look I'm telling the god's honest truth! I told him he shouldn't have done it. " He swallowed, his eyes wide. "I mean, the slayer is no ordinary human and the sorcerer he went to told him to attack only regular humans." He gazed at both of them again, to see if they would buy it. "I don't know! I don't know how to kill him, I don't. The spell is about exchanging life for death. He is taking the slayer's life right now. It's a give-take thing. That's all I know. That's all I know, I swear!"
"Shut up!" Desmond mustered a shout at him.
"You said you knew what you were doing!" The vampire shouted. "But you're going to kill us all!"
Angel came up to Desmond. "Well, looks like your friends finally figured you out, Desmond." He knelt down to him. "I'll find out how to kill you." He promised. "Even if one of your lackeys refuse to come clean."
Angel stood and tried to think. Exchanging life for death. Death for life.
How can he kill Desmond?
Angel knew he was bound to this spell, whatever it was, no matter if he broke the rules or not. This he knew for sure.
Desmond started to stand, clearly in pain and glared at Angel, holding his broken hand. "You will not win. You and your human friends will not win this. YOU RUINED ME!" He screamed. "YOU DID THIS TO ME! You created this bloodlust. This thirst. You! You can't just be like this, live like this, a vampire with a soul, walking this earth, walking around and having people who LOVE you. I loved once. I loved! And you TOOK that from me! And now all I have is this. This...this power! This eternal life that you given me. This SHELL. So no I will not let you live in peace. I will destroy everything you have and then destroy you!" He spat. "Look at Buffy and look at her closely. WATCH her die. Then watch me finally take the power I rightly deserve. By the blood of the living, I will live indefinitely."
Angel glared at him as he made his threats. He couldn't say anything back. What could he?
Instead he thought hard about what could kill this vampire.
Exchanging death for life.
By the blood of the living, I will live indefinitely.
"Faith," Angel said. He had an idea. He didn't think it would work but he had to give it a shot and he had to act quickly, before Desmond started feeling 'better' from Faith's attacks. That meant he could have no interruptions. "I changed my mind. Turns out...I don't need the lackeys after all." He turned to Faith. "Take care of them, would you?" He turned to Desmond. "We're going to make an exchange."
Suddenly Angel swung his hardest at Desmond's face and he fell to the ground easily in his pain from Faith's attacks.

"Get off me!" Xander struggled his arms free but they wouldn't budge. His legs are free so he brought his legs over his head and kicked the vampires in the head, they fell to the ground.
"An exchange what? What do you mean an exchange? Do you know how to save Buffy?" He asked Angel as he got up.
"Of course he doesn't" Desmond laughed, "or he would of done it by now" he spat. "You haven't changed a bit have you Angelus? You still rely on words instead of actions to get the job done" he got up off the floor, clutching his broken hand with his good one. "You think you've figured it out haven't you? Well trust me when I say you haven't". He elbowed Angel in the nose, then kicked him in the stomach. "Ok, lets exchange". Desmond grinned

Angel stumbled back and morphed, immediately regaining his footing. He couldn't lose his footing. He couldn't lose this opportunity while Desmond was weak.
Angel growled and quickly punched him in the face. Desmond recovered and Angel jump kicked him hard in the stomach, making Desmond crash to the ground again. Angel promptly grabbed him by the collar and dragged him up against the wall.
He snickered all the way. "What are you doing, Angelus? Do you really think your idle threats will work on me?"
"No," he said. "But I do know that when you make an exchange, if one person is cut off from it, the exchange is broken." Angel knew Buffy was fading fast and time was against him.
"Yeah so?" Desmond retorted.
"The exchange of the blood of the living gives you life. So if you make the exchange with the dead...what does that give you? I think you can do the math. So lets try an experiment."
Desmond's eyes widened. "No...No!" Before he could struggle, Angel punched him hard in the face to shut him up. Taking his moment of disorientation, Angel bit his wrist and grabbed Desmond by the collar. "This scene looks familiar, doesn't it?" Angel hissed before forcing Desmond's mouth on his bleeding wound.
Desmond struggled trying not to drink it but Angel struggled just as violently with him, forcing his head back. Desmond's muffled cries could be heard over the struggling.
"I sired you this way 120 years ago, Desmond," Angel said through his fangs. "I made you suffer..." Desmond tried to get out of it but Angel pushed him down again. "I killed your family. And now in the same way I made you, I'm destroying you. I can't take back everything, but at least I can take back this."
Once Angel felt he had been forced to drink enough, blood was spilling from Desmond's mouth and he had no choice but to swallow. Angel yanked his arm away and backed away himself. Desmond's eyes went wide and his bloody mouth was ajar. He looked at Angel in disbelief, his body stiff, and his skin starting to slowly crack.
"No...!" He gasped before finally combusting into dust.
An invincible force flew around the room and landed right into Buffy, restoring her. Angel unmorphed, looking a bit traumatized himself, and didn't even attempt to stand. He swallowed hard.

Xander became overwhelmed when he saw Desmond turn to dust. The other vampires exactly where they were. The vampire that was scared of what Desmond had done stepped forward, "Thank you, I really thought that we were all doomed. But considering I'm a vampire, I can't let you leave." He smirked.
"And here I was thinking that it was over" Xander reached into his pocket and bought out a stake.

Buffy could still feel herself slipping away from the scene, away from the world. Images were flashing through her mind. She was seeing everything from her first word to finding out she was the slayer to her first kill to the first day of school in Sunnydale and much more. One picture that stayed in her mind was Angel though... how he was always there when she needed him, how he never seemed to do wrong. Then her mother came to mind... how would she cope over Buffy's death... and would she know what really caused her daughter to die? That a vampire had attacked the Slayer because she was in love with another vampire? Desmond would be famous for defeating the Slayer...
After that thought, Buffy's eyes snapped open. She jumped to her feet, suddenly feeling stronger than normal. Power was coursing through her body even though she had been weak as an infant two second ago. Buffy charged out of the empty room and out into the main one where everyone was. Her gaze went straight to Angel, and she smiled, letting him know she was okay. A moment later it hit her... Desmond was gone.
"What happened? How did you...?" Buffy looked around and noticed that there were still vampires hovering around. Her smile turned delightful. She had enough energy to take out a whole town, let alone a single building. "Need help, guys?"

"Buffy!" Xander's eyes opened wide with shock. "Are you okay?" It was a pretty obvioust that she was. "Help would be excellent" he said with delight.
He attacked the vampire closer to him, starting off with a punch in the nose, followed by a kick to the stomach, the vampire was hardly fazed. The vampire responded with a punch to his face, he flipped him over to his back. The vampire sat ontop of him, before the vampire could do any futher damage Xander staked him in the heart. Dust fell into his mouth. He spat, he flipped up. "Ok who is next?" He smirked.

Angel saw the vampires were not going to give up, so he tried shaking the memory of Desmond...all those years ago, drinking the blood from his wrist and becoming a vampire himself...the memory that seemed etched in his mind at the moment. He blinked, looked up, and forced himself back into the game. Feeling a internal fire from the previous events, he fought and dusted several vampires on his own fairly quickly. One of the last one's left attempted to sneak up on Buffy from behind while she was busy with another vamp.
With out a word, Angel grabbed the vampire by his shoulders and flung him over the bar. The vampire got up didn't even have a second to register he had been staked in the heart before he was dusted. It seemed as if the ordeal was over. He turned around to Buffy, just glad to see she was alright. He said nothing.

Buffy fought along with the others and it was encouraging her to see the others were alright too. She began to fight harder when she realised they were actually getting somewhere... there seemed like a lot less vampires than before, to her anyway. When she got a break, she brushed her hair away from her face and something made her look in Angel's direction. He was looking at her without saying anything and Buffy raised her eyebrow at him. However, by Buffy's distraction, a vampire saw it as a good time to attack.
Buffy was knocked to the ground, not seeing the vampire approach. The female vampire placed her foot on Buffy's chest, causing her to gasp. "Well well, it seems the slayer may be destroyed tonight after all." She finished off her sentence with a spine-tingling laugh.
Buffy suddenly felt another surge of power and with a flip, she was up on her feet and now had the vampire knocked to the ground, blinking stupidly up at her. She smirked and held her stake tightly. "Oh, I don't think so." With that, Buffy swooped and dusted the girl, who managed a curse before she disappeared completely.
She looked back at Angel, then approached him while the other vampires were busy fighting the others. "Angel, I think Desmond's powers are in me... I feel stronger than usual. It's not a bad thing, is it?" Her expression held worry, she wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not.

Angel diverted his eyes downward and then looked up at her. "It should be temporary. The spell inflicted on him should die off soon." After a moments silence, he swallowed. "I gotta go," he said uneasily.
He turned and quickly exited the doors of the Bronze, his long coat flowing behind him, his feet moving in quick strides. Now that he knew Buffy was okay, he couldn't even bare to look or talk to her, knowing that she almost died. Knowing that she almost died and he was the cause of it. Several flashes of memories raced in his head of blood and death from his past, and they followed him into the night.

"Oh great, he leaves when there is still...1...2...3....8 vampires still here" Xander said frustrated, "not much of a hero is he?"
A vampire came charging at him, and in a swift, almost unseen movement Xander had his stake in the vampire's heart. He turned to dust. He got three more when their backs were turned, he couldn't possibly fight them when they're aware that he's coming.
"Where's Anya when you need her, she would of loved this." Xander giggled. There were still four left, which he left for Buffy and the others to take care of.
His body was aching all over. He had been thrown, bitten and impaled all in one night. He couldn't sustain anymore injuries. At this moment going to the hospital sounded like spending the day at Disney Land.
He leant against the wall, groaning and moaning as he slid down. Thank God, this is almost over. He smirked at the thought of that. This has been the longest night in history....Wait night? He thought glancing at his watch.
Six thirty it read, the sun is coming up. His eyes darted over to a window, shards of light were coming through. He got up, his body stiff. He limped over to the window. It was too high up to open, so he has to throw something at it to break it.
There was nothing that he could use, except his shoe. He pulled it off and summoning all his strength he threw it at the window. The sound of window smashing filled Xander with a feeling that he hasn't felt in a long time. Freedom.
Light filled the room, dusting each vampire left in the room. When they were all gone, he turned to his friends. "Well that was one hell of a night....Lets just not do it again anytime soon." He laughed.
"Now can someone get me to the hospital?"
