Xander entered the main room, while Faith 'took out the trash'. He overheard what Desmond had done, but not understanding why the other vampire was afraid of what he did. "This is bad..." Giles muttered to himself. "Very bad...we must leave, there is nothing we can do"
"Do you know what he did?" Xander asked Giles, "What did he do?" he was starting to get worried.

"Faith," he said when he saw the situation in front of him. Suddenly, Xander burst into the room with Buffy, in a clear panic.
"We forgot to take out the trash." Faith said. When she said that, Angel turned to Xander, his eyes glaring and dark. He was irritated that Xander followed him and was unsuccessful at hiding it. He didn't mean it, but too many things were going on in his head and around him, he couldn't help it. "Don't bring her in here," Angel snapped. He didn't want her in the midst of vampires and a part of him didn't want her near him. He saw the light from the door and he assumed the spell must have worked. "It's too dangerous. Take her back out there and stay with Giles."
When Xander left he turned to Faith. "Taking out the trash? I'm in." He eyed the one on her right. "What do you say, I take one, you take the other?" He then jumped kicked him, forcing him back into the wall.

(Before Xander left the back room and back into the main room)
"It's too dangerous. Take her back out there and stay with Giles." "And how is it safer in there!?" Xander hissed at Angel. "Giles can't look after her, hes sort of busy." This isn't the time to argue so he dragged Buffy to the corner. "You don't have many vampires in here, theres like fifty out there. Trust me, shes safer in here. Do you want her in there with your old friend, what if he kisses her again and this time she actually dies!" Xander didn't wait for Angel to reply and walked angrily out.

The vampire charged at Angel and he ducked while listening to Xander's cries. "You don't have many vampires in here, theres like fifty out there. Trust me, shes safer in here." Xander said.
Now angrier than ever, Angel elbowed the vampire attacking him hard in the face while saying through his teeth. "Willow just unleashed a sun spell Xander," He ducked again and then swung his fist into the vampire's face hard enough to knock the vampire to the ground. Not having enough time to explain to Xander that the vampires outside should be dead, Angel ignored Xander's last comment. He was sure that Desmond was not an issue anymore. The spell would have destroyed him. What he needed to worry about was how to save Buffy, but Xander apparently didn't see that. Angel morphed in his growing anger about the situation, grabbed the vampire by the collar and stood him up, then began hitting him repeatedly in the face.

Xander left the main room as he got tired waiting for Giles to respond, he went back to the back room again. "Your friend out there can't be killed." Xander told Angel as he was fighting, he wasn't sure if he was listening. "He touched the sun ball, nothing happened to him, he even staked himself in the heart, nothing happened. This other vampire got scared because apparently 'he doomed us all'" He said badly mimicing the vampires voice. "He jumped on your friend, but he killed him first. Now Giles wants us to leave cause 'there's nothing we can do here'" He said also mimicing Giles' British accent. "Told you she was safer back here. Do you know what he did?"

"What do you say, I take one, you take the other?" He then jumped kicked him, forcing him back into the wall.
"I'm down." She responded, tackling the other one to the ground and hitting him repeatedly in the face. Faith zoned out and after awhile he stopped moving.
"Your friend out there can't be killed."
She turned to Xander and snapped angrily, "What the hell are we supposed to do then!"

The vampire passed out and Angel dropped him when he heard Xander’s words. How can that be possible? Angel just glared at Xander when he asked if he knew what Desmond did. He unmorphed and paced the room, running his fingers through his dark hair. “No, I…“ His brow lowered, he tried to remember if there was anything from his past that he remembered Desmond doing but nothing was coming to him. Angel paused and looked down at Buffy’s body lying there. He bent down and stroked her light hair with his fingers. “Hang in there Buffy, I’ll find out what he did to you.” He looked up at Faith, who cried, “What the hell are we supposed to do then!” He stood slowly and said with conviction, his eyes dark, “We find out how to save Buffy, we find Desmond’s weakness, and then we kill him.”
He turned to Xander. “Tell Willow to get rid of the sun ball, I’m going out there.” Meanwhile, Angel had to think quick. What was it that Desmond did? And how could they stop him?

"What the hell are we supposed to do then!" Faith snapped at Xander.Xander put his hands up in a defensive manner. "Tell Willow to get rid of the sun ball, I'm going out there." Angel's voice was quite soothing now, or so Xander thought. "On it" Xander left.
Xander returned, everyone's eyes were on him."You there! Tell Angelus to get back here and face me like a vampire!" Desmond ordered Xander. "No need. Willow get rid of the sun ball, Angel's coming back." He said allowed, it wasn't a secret that Angel was going to make another cameo.

Willow wasn't too willing to lower her sun bal and she doubted Angel would come back but she did as Xander asid, it wasn't doing much good anymore anyway. She felt slightly powerless now, not a good feeling for her because it made her more determined wich often lead to misguided judgements. "Now what?" She asked Xander quietly, not taking her eyes off Desmond, her mind flicking through spells, all of which now seemed ineffective.

"Angel just wants to have a little chat" he responded to Willow. He was unsure if this was a good idea, if there was a vote to stay or leave it would be to leave. They had no idea what was going on, but he was curious to find out. "So everyone be good ok" Xander eyes mostly bored into Desmond as the statement was aimed at him and his minions.
He walked to the door to the back room "Ok Angel, come on out". He stared at Buffy, her being like this was causing him stress. He couldn't deal with it "Buffy!" He sighed in distress. "Maybe we should make a deal with him, like we let him go for the antidote". But that may be what he wants, he thought, but if it can save Buffy's life he didn't care.

Buffy slowly and groggily opened her eyes. She'd felt like she'd slept for a whole week and as she looked around with a blurry vision, she thought maybe that wasn't so crazy seeing as she wasn't where she remembered she had been before. However, she could faintly hear voices... familiar voices that held comfort. She'd vaguely felt someone touch her hair a few moments ago but she wasn't sure if that had been real.
Buffy tried to sit up, but she still felt too weak. She could actually feel the poison inside of her. She then heard a voice call out to... Angel? Buffy groaned in pain and discomfort, then with effort she managed to force out one word, one single word that willed her to stay awake... "Angel?"

"Angel?"
Xander's heart skipped a beat or two when she called out Angel instead of his. He brushed it off knowing now wasn't the time to get worried about this kind of thing. "We need to do something and fast." He glanced at Buffy one more time, he knew that there wasn't much time so time to get moving.

Angel was in mid thought when Xander came in the door. He made the suggestion to strike a deal. Angel shook his head. "Let him go? From where I'm standing it looks like he's the one with the hold on us." He paused. "I'll find out what he did and how to stop him."
Suddenly he heard a faint voice call his name. He looked and saw that Buffy regained consciousness. "Buffy," Angel went to her, and stroked her face again. "I'm here," Angel realized that the fact she was awake didn't indicate anything particularly good. His eyes gazed down at her in concern and worry, as her cheeks and lips were now removed of color. She was dying.
"Hey," he said softly, grabbing her hand. "I need you to hang on, okay?" He kissed her hand. "You're going to be alright." He looked up over to Xander as he stood up. "Watch her," he said.
Xander was right, they did need to act quickly. So without another word, Angel took quick strides out the door and into the main area. He grabbed Desmond by he shoulder and spun him around. "What did you do?" He said, his eyes almost twitching with fury.
"Oh Angelus, you decided to join us again." He snickered. "How does it feel to watch your loved one die?"
Angel gazed around briefly and saw that what was left of his minions were looking unsettled and scared. "How does it feel to have your followers doubt you?" He said looking back at him with intensity.
Desmond grinned and said dismissively, "Don't worry about them. They're hardly followers. They were just along for the ride." He turned around and glared at Willow menacingly. Angel knew what was on his mind so he grabbed him again.
"Along for the ride, yeah, until you decided to do that." One of the vampires with long spiky black hair said. "What were you thinking?! You can't play around with Black Magic like that!"
"Don't lecture me like a child!" Desmond yanked out of Angel's hold and yelled at the younger vampire. "I've been around twice as long as you, I know what I'm doing!"
Angel gazed between the two. "I don't know. A few hundred years doesn't give you license to the Black Magic Handbook. Gotta side with him on this one." He nodded towards the other vampire.
Desmond, now growing angry, struck Angel to the ground. That stung, he thought, still not quite used to Desmond's powerful attacks. Desmond loomed over him. "You know what you've taught me Angelus? You taught me the exchange of life and death. A human's blood gives life to us that are dead. In exchange, the human meets death in order for us to live. You granted me eternal life in exchange for my family's death. I think you need to relearn that lesson for yourself."
The vampire with spiky hair stepped forward. "I think we should just go, Master. I have a bad feeling about this. I mean...she is a slayer."
"She is human." Desmond retorted. "She is human and is capable of dying." He gazed down at Angel. "I want you to watch her last breaths."
Angel, for a split second, was torn between the memory of Desmond's wife and child...their bodies limp and pale on the dirt ground...and the image of Buffy laying there, lifeless. He quickly snapped out of it when the other vampire pipped in again.
"She's human, but she's a slayer. And you know what the rules are--"
Desmond snapped his head towards him. "YES, I know what the rules are. She dies so I can live." He looked down at Angel and grinned. "They all die, so I can live. You see Angelus, the spell I conducted takes advantage of the lesson you gave to me all those years ago. This body you gave me, this shell, this heart that doesn't beat, this coldness...death resides. To give away death and take life, the essence of live human flesh...with a kiss...well, that's just living the vampire's dream isn't it? Power and eternal life, in exchange for human pain and death. Wasn't that what you wanted when you killed them? Don't you see the beauty in this?" He snickered. "I could give that witch a kiss too, to prove my point."
The more Desmond talked, the angrier Angel got and with that last sentence, Angel jumped at him not caring about the consequences. He tackled him to the ground and punched him in the face several times.
Desmond laughed in between his ineffective attacks. He grabbed Angel's wrist and said, "I thought you were remorseful."
"I am." Angel sneered. "But like I said, this isn't about justice. Its about you wanting to destroy, just like you're supposed to. It's not about your family, or the fact that I can't make up for what I did to you. You want the thrill of the hunt. I made you that way. And since I did, I will find a way to kill you."
"Don't you get it? You can't kill me. There's only one way to do that."
"Don't get the impression that you're willing to share." He said, his face still serious.
"You're correct." Desmond pushed Angel off of him with such force that Angel hit the ceiling. Desmond rolled over before Angel smashed hard into the ground. Desmond stood and dusted off his hands. He rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck. "Wow, taking the slayer's life isn't such a bad thing. Now, what would happen if I took the witch?" He glared over at Willow.

Willow felt her blood turn to ice when Desmond flashed his dark eyes at her, she was frozen to the spot and her mind went blank of any spells, chants, even of any thought! She couldn't fight him off, she failed before and magic was what she did best, armed combat wasn't her thing she was going to die! Tears began to fill her eyes already, shelooked over t Buffy's body, it looked so helpless. "Fine, take me but let her live first!" She said angry tears flowing down her cheeks.

"Now, what would happen if I took the witch?" He glared over at Willow.Xander saw all this happen, he limped over to Willow to protect her before Desmond could plant the kiss of death on her. He got to her in time, as Desmond approached he stood in front of her and put his hands out to the sides like they were a force field so Desmond couldn't touch her. "Stay away" Xander spat, "don't you dare touch her!" Xander grew angrier. "Or what? You can't protect her for long, idiot child, as your only human and I'm something that the monsters under your bed are afraid of. You can't stop me" Desmond laughed quietly. He pushed Xander out of the road and he fell to the floor. Several vampires pinned his arms and legs so he couldn't get up. "Don't touch her!" Xander cried. His unshed tears were stinging his eyes. Desmond brushed Xander off and grabbed Willow eached side of the face and slowly starting bringing her closer to him, just to scare everyone. He stopped aburtly, he turned to Angel, still holding Willow. "I won", he turned his focus back to Willow.Since when was this a competition, Xander thought. Was there something else Angel wasn't telling us. (Someone help her )
