Buffy was so stunned to see Angel that she failed to notice Willow until she was in front of her and talking to her. With effort, she tore her gaze off the vampire and looked at her best friend, her expression not changing. "Not asking is good." She nodded, still feeling out of it.
She took a moment to think about Willow's request. Part of her wanted to agree and allow Willow to get rid of him, saving her the hassle of having to speak to him. Yet, another part of her wanted to fling herself into his arms, to tell him one day she could forgive him. But no, she couldn't do either of those.
"It's okay, I can deal." Buffy told Willow, beginning to walk towards the porch. She held his gaze, feeling like she were in a dream, not even feeling her legs as she made her way towards him. She stopped right in front of him, looking down at him with a hard expression, her eyes showing her anger of the past. "What are you doing here?"
She was surprised how calm she sounded and how her face didn't crumble at the sight of him, not to mention at how close she now was. On the inside though, she was screaming, venting out all the pain he'd caused.

He remained on the porch. His whole body tensed waiting for Buffy's response. When she told Willow to let her deal with him, he relaxed slightly. She was going to deal with him, which was better than being automatically dismissed by someone other than her. If he was going to be turned away he wanted her to do it herself, looking him in the eye.
He watched as she approached him. Wondering what she was going to say, how this all would end up. "What are you doing here?"
"Buffy.. I.." It was as if he couldn't speak. The things he wanted to convey to her were making him speechless. It was hard being here, but he was trying to push past it. He was the one who had decided to come knocking on her doorstep. "I sold my property in LA. Handed over my business." That wasn't important... Why couldn't he just tell her he loved her? Well, she'd probably punch him or cry and neither of those options would give an end result that he wanted. "I'm sorry, that's not why I'm here." He said, his eyes still gazing into hers. "I've come back here because I can't stay away. I tried to pretend that I left for the right reasons... To give you a normal life, but all I did was hurt you. I want to fix that, I want to fix us." It was a long shot in hell. He knew that she wouldn't automatically forgive him, but yet still here he was holding his heart out toward her.

Buffy stood waiting for Angel to explain, her hard expression wavering slightly as she gazed at him. He looked the same, of course, since vampires didn't tend to age and she suddenly began to have flashbacks to when they first met and the passion they'd shared when they just kissed. She forced the oncoming memories of his reign of terror away, deciding to try to focus on the good rather than the bad.
Her eyebrows shot up as he told her he'd handed over his business and was back for good. "I thought you were... happy there." Buffy murmured, unable to believe he wasn't just here for a passing visit. But before she could ponder more over that information, Angel continued. Her eyes began to mist and she looked away, hoping to get her feelings back in control. He wasn't wrong... he'd hurt her more than he knew.
"You're right, you did hurt me. Big time. But Angel, I don't know if I can trust you again... I want to but..." She trailed off, now looking back at him. "... you tried to destroy my life, my friends. Do you think I can just look the other way about that?" Now her voice was breaking and she blinked to try to stop the tears from flowing. Taking a deep breath, Buffy finally decided to sit down along side him.
"You have no idea how much I missed you... even though I hated you at the time for your Angelus episode." She barely whispered to him, looking down at her knees rather than at him.

"I wasn't happy," he said his eyes still trained on hers, "I dealt with what I walked into, tried to make it a home but my heart was always here."
He didn't respond when she brought up Angelus at first. He didn't expect her to ever forgive him for that. Angelus was a sick and twisted soul whom had no remorse. There was no mercy. Why should she forgive the demon that dwelled inside of him? He couldn't and he expected no one else to. His features were blank, vacant of what he was truly feeling, he looked to her as she sat down.
"You don't have to forgive me or except me back into your life. You forgave me once when I came back from hell, you looked past Angelus and took care of me. Then I left because I thought that was what you needed." His fingers idly twiddled together, eyes looking out toward the street, "You can tell me to go. I will respect that. I will leave you alone, but I won't leave town." The ball was in her court. Should he stay, or should he go? He wanted her to decide. He wasn't going to beg or be too melodramatic... Or at least he hoped he wasn't. But the brooding always seemed to seep its way into everything. The whole redemption mission tended to cause that.

Buffy only nodded to Angel's confirmation, thinking about how life would be for her with him back in town. Would she see him often or would he be like when they first met... only coming to her when he had to pass on information? She hoped not since she didn't like only seeing him when he wanted... Buffy couldn't go through that again.
She listened in silence as he spoke, taking in his words, pondering over them. Still not looking at him, she took a breath before replying. "I'm not going to tell you to go. I... I'd like to see you more than not. But Angel... you need to know I'll need time to deal. I've only just accepted you're gone for good and now you're not."
Buffy looked at Angel now, her eyes misty from their conversation but she managed a weak smile. "Oh come on, will you really be able to leave me alone? I think I recall you couldn't stop stalking me before."

"I understand."
His hands stopped fidgeting as he listened to her continue. Watching her eyes mist over. A pang of guilt rising in him. He hated himself for hurting her, every time he saw her cry or get even the tiniest bit upset he wished he could make things right instantaneously. But that was not how the world worked. He knew that.
The weak smile that rose on her lips and the slightly sassy remark made that blank expression he was sporting soften. A small smirk pulled at the corners of his lips, "Says the one who was so obsessed she tried to read my thoughts..."

Buffy laughed lightly at Angel's comment and looked at him fully now, not just with her eyes but her body was no longer rigid and turning away from him. "I'm happy we're talking like this again... it's nice." She told him, getting the encouragement at seeing his blank expression not so... blank.
"Will you go back to your old apartment?" Just thinking about that place brought a pained expression on her face. It was where it had all gone wrong... where Buffy had brought out Angelus in the first place. "I mean... where are you... staying." She looked down again, her earlier confidence gone now.
Despite her confusion and previous pain, she knew she would forgive Angel one day but she couldn't say when that day would be exactly. The hardest thing though, was deep down, she did still love him.

He was glad that they were starting to be able to converse a bit like the old days. He took notice of her turning toward him and then that moment was far off in the distance as she contemplated where he was going to live. Angel knew that it would take her a while to forgive him, but he would be patient and would not pressure her into it.
"With Willy." He joked, knowing that now might not be the best time to make a joke, he sighed. "I found an apartment. Not the same one." He added, noticing her eyes on the pavement. "Buffy," he said softly extending one of his hands to her, "don't think about that. Knock me out with some of that witty charm huh?" He still loved Buffy as well and it pained him to see her like this. Her confidence usually never wavered and it killed him that he was the one who sometimes could take it away without even meaning to.

Okay, decided to try to revive this with a slight help from Willow.)
Sighing and watching in aggravation through the window at Buffy and Angel, Dawn crossed her arms over her chest. Damn it...weren't they ever going to come inside? Fine, if they weren't going to come in...she would just go out to them. Checking to make sure that the coast was clear, she tried to make her way toward the door and then felt a hand on her shoulder "Dawnie..."
Turning and looking at Willow, Dawn sighed and shook her head "Willow, I know I was told to go inside...but damn it...he's going to hurt her again. I can just see it."
Frowning at Willow, she listened as Dawn spoke up "Really Dawnie...I don't think you should bother them...and if you do, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to turn you into a fluffy white bunny rabbit."
Knowing Willow was bluffing, Dawn shook her head and pushed open the door then strode out onto the porch before walking down to where Angel and Buffy were. "Excuse me, but if you're gonna be here Mr. Fangy..." Smirking a little, she shook her head "Why don't you come in and sit for awhile?"
Blinking at her sudden mood change, Dawn looked over her shoulder and saw Willow standing behind her with a smug smile on her face "Will! No fair controlling my emotions!"
Smiling and wrapping an arm around Dawn, Willow looked at Angel and Buffy "Simple mood change spell...she'll say what she feels...only with a more positive outlook now." Looking at Angel, she smiled "Now, what do you say? Come on in with Buffy, me and Dawnie...it'll be good to catch up on old times."
