The sky was overcast tonight, the stars and moon shielded behind grey thick clouds that threatened to release on the earth. Despite the warning of the dismal weather to come, there he stood rooted to the spot. His dark brown eyes taking in every detail of the house. A lot of memories stirred as he tried to take another step forward, but he couldn't. Why was he here? He knew it could never work. He had a whole new life in LA, yet he found himself yearning to see her.
His hands rested in the pockets of his trench coat, balled up into fists, struggling with what he was doing. If he didn't go to the door and someone saw him it would get back to Buffy. Then she would think that he was spying on her and her friends again, which technically at that moment was true since he was staring at her house. Yet if he did go in that meant revisiting all of the emotions, having to try to come up with some elaborate reason to be there, and that he didn't have the energy for. The only way would be to tell the truth, but then again nothing could come of it. It was one endless circle of love and pain and it was unfair for him to stir things up when they had been calm and settled for some time now.
Staring at the white paint, the deep oak door, it was time to go. Hopefully no one was home and had witnessed his thirty minute stare down. He turned then preparing to leave, maybe this was it.

Rain walked down the sidewalk of the small Sunnydale suburb humming a little tune. She didn't know where it had come from and she honestly didn't care. The song had been ingrained into her head for the past week so she was finally singing it and trying to get it out of her system.
She was almost to the Slayer's house before she saw him: a big figure lurking just outside the Summer's residense. Rain frowned. Sunnydale was a small town which meant she new almost everyone, even after living here for maybe two and a half months, and this man was completely unfamiliar to her. Rain lifted her nose slightly and sniffed the wind. No smell caught her attention, it was all normal: dirt, grass, etc. Then the wind shifted. Suddenly her very sensative nose was overwhelmed with the smell of grave soil and death. Her eyes narrowed: Vampire.

His feet wouldn't move, he stood there fighting with himself. This had been a mistake, a weak moment, and he needed to clear his head and just walk away. Yet there he stood torturing himself. He couldn't disrupt what he had stepped away from, not again.
Just as he got the nerve to walk away the wind shifted and as it did, he also became aware of another's presence. He didn't turn or mutter a word. He stood there waiting. He wasn't sure if they were good or evil, so tipping them off that he knew they were there wasn't something he wanted to do just yet.
After a moment or so he turned and began to walk the short distance back to his car in the hopes that the demon would follow. If they went towards the Summer's he'd have to go after them. But if he was good enough of a distraction and they followed him, he would be able to determine discretely who they were and what exactly they wanted.

Rain waited, watching the Vampire. He couldn't go into the Summers' house so she had no reason to attack him but if he tried she certainly would. They stood there, not fifty yards apart, him not turning towards her and her not moving a muscle towards him. Rain could feel her demon wanting to come out.
The moment seemed to stretch on for hours but it was only after a few seconds that the Vampire turned and walked away towards a dark car. Rain frowned. Should she follow? This could just be a trap. What if the Vampire wanted her away from the Summers house so he could turn back kill her then attack the Slayer? Or if he was casing the place she had to do something. Buffy was her friend. Buffy was the one who had helped her get used to the whole Sunnydale-is-demon-central thing. Rain couldn't let anything happen to her newest and probably only friend.
Rain followed the Vampire slowly, creeping through the shadows towards him like a hell hound.

His car was only a couple hundred yards from the Summer's residence. He had parked it in the shadows close enough so that he could get away quickly, but just far enough that it wouldn't be a glaring sign that someone was outside. As he walked from the house and sensed the demon coming after him he was relieved they decided to follow him instead of going for the house, he wasn't sure he still had an invitation.
When he was a few feet from the car he turned around to face the demon that followed. His brooding features stone cold, as the clouds threatened the coming of a storm, he hated confrontation. It was always awkward and full of violence. Hopefully this didn't have to be, but he didn't trust anyone he didn't know. Especially a demon who was tailing him.
"So, let me guess you were dropping by the slayer's for a quick snack and decided playing with a vampire might be a safer choice?" It was then after the remark that he really looked at who he was talking to, and the features struck him as familiar but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Rain was stunned when the Vampire turned on her; she was sure she had been super sneaky coming after him. Then her brains processed his words. "Excuse me?" she demanded in her thick Irish accent. "You thought I was going to...ok now that's just gross." she made a face at him that clearly expressed how disgusting she though the idea of eating human was.
The glare on the stranger Vampire's face didn't falter however and on instinct, fearing some sort of attack, Rain flashed to a slightly more demonic form. Long fangs protruded from her mouth and wolf ears sprouted on her head. Her eyes sparkled brilliant emerald and claws sprouted from her fingers. Not quite fully transformed but definitely more threatening Rain scrambled to her feet, ready for anything and keeping her sharp eyes on the man.

He was caught off guard at her response. So she wasn't evil then, he supposed, that would make her a friend of the Summer's. Crap. He thought. Now Buffy was definitely going to hear about his stopping by. He watched as she morphed into her demon form.
"Are you a friend of the Summer's?" Asking the obvious, but he had to confirm it. He knew the question might provide a little confusion, which would stall a fight that was unnecessary. He himself did not vamp. Sure she was a threat, but until she responded he didn't want to jump to any conclusions and give her more of a reason to attack him. He waited for her response, eyes never leaving hers. Why was she so damn familiar?

Rain looked the Vampire up and down. He was very cute in a tall, dark, handsome and brooding kind of way. Barely five feet from him she had to look up quite a ways to meet his dark eyes. She could feel heat rise to her cheeks as he gazed down at her because, let's face it the guy was extrememly hot.
Trying to regain her composure Rain crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow at him. "If I am then what's stopping me from staking you right now, dead-boy?"
Rain didn't like the way this guy made her immediately go on the defensive. It unnerved her. She had yet to meet someone who made her hackles go up so easily but all her instincts were shrieking at her to run, this Vampire was dangerous, more so than any other.

His face remained in that classic pout as she took in the sight of him up close. He noticed her cheeks reddening and all too quickly she spouted out quite the feisty response to his question. Lips curled into a smirk, "Dead-boy?"
Arms folded then across his chest. He knew that he was intimidating her and that perhaps he should be a little bit more friendly and see where it took him. If she was a friend, which by her response it seemed so, then violence wouldn't be needed.
"I'm an old friend of Giles'. Just here to hand off some information." He didn't feel it necessary to claim being friends with Buffy. If he was lucky, this demon wouldn't bring it up to her, if he played it in a nonchallant manner.
"Who are you?"

Hope it's ok if I join...going to do a joint post between Willow and Dawn for now))
Blinking and looking through the book she had on the coffee table, Dawn sighed and slammed it shut. "Ugh...I just don't get it...Trigonometry sucks!! And when we ever really need it in the real world? I mean really?"
Hearing Dawn, Willow sighed and walked into the living room carrying two mugs of steaming hot chocolate and a bag of marshmallows under her arm. Smiling at the young teenager, Willow set the two mugs down and opened the bag, slipping a few giant marshmallows into both mugs "Oh...it's not really that hard Dawn...all you gotta really do is know the basic formulae..."
Turning the book to look at it, Willow reopened it and looked at the formulae in the books then nodded "You gotta also know the termonlogy for Trigonometry like Domain, Function, Period, Periodic Function, Range, Reference Angel, Rule, the Trigonometric functions such as: sine, cosine, tangent, cosecanant, secant, contangent, and finally Unit Circle."
Seeing that Dawn was lost, Willow smiled and wrote out a formulae for her "Ok, looks at it this way: f(x+c)=f(c). In this case, the c is the constant."
Furrowing her eyebrows at how easily Willow had done the problem, Dawn shook her head "Ok, Willow...um...English for us non-Trigonometry speaking people?"
Smiling, Willow shut the book "Ok, we'll do this tomorrow since it's the weekend...let's do our..." Looking out the window she furrowed her eyebrows hearing two voices outside and tugged back the curtains thinking Spike was at the door again. Widening her eyes, she saw a ghost from the past. Angel? What was he doing here? Turning, she saw Dawn gone from the couch.
Looking out the window and seeing Angel there, Dawn narrowed her eyes. What the hell was he doing here? Especially after the way he left Sunnydale...not to mention her sister? Shaking her head, she threw open the door and took off off the porch after him and Rain with Willow not far behind.
Reaching Angel and Rain, Dawn nodded to Rain then looked at Angel and crossed her arms over her chest glaring at him "What are you doing here?"

(Of course! Join away.)
After those three words had slipped from his lips Dawn was there questioning him. I should've parked the car further. He sighed, this was definitely going to get to Buffy now.
"Hello to you too Dawn... Willow." He said as she caught up to Dawn. Now that he had been caught red handed, he knew he couldn't lie his way out of it. It would just make things worse.
"I wanted to tell your sister something." He didn't elaborate. The name Rain triggered the memory that had slipped. That was where he had met Rain. Rain the demon from the Boxer Rebellion. He'd finished her quite sickeningly. She was one of the top five people he most regretted killing. He had shown her no mercy and had laughed enjoying watching the light go out of her eyes. Did she remember? He hoped not.

Blinking and narrowing her eyes at Angel, Dawn shook her head "After the way you left my sister in the dust? I don't think you have anything..." Cutting off there, she cried out as Willow yanked her back by the arm.
Looking down at Dawn, Willow sighed "Give him a chance Dawnie...he might want to fix things with Buffy..."
Listening to Willow whisper this to her, Dawn growled and narrowed her eyes not making her own whisper soft at all, not caring if Angel heard her or not "And why should we? He..."
Again yanking on her arm, Willow saw the calculating look that Rain was giving Angel and sighed. This couldn't be good. Sighing, she decided that she might want to get Rain away from Angel as she spoke up "Rain, can you take Dawn back inside? I want to speak to Angel..."
Looking at Angel, Willow sighed and crossed her arms in front of her chest as she waited to see what Rain would say.

Suddenly Wilow and Dawn where standing next to her. Dawn was glaring at the Vampire, which was weird because the teenager didn't strike Rain as someone who hated a lot of people. Then Willow suggested Rain take Dawn inside and Rain almost snarled. How dare this little Witch try and order her around. Although Rain did not know exactly how old she was she did know that she was far older than the redhead. Besides, Rain didn't like how the whole Scooby posse treated Dawn, like she was some troublesome child that needed protecting. Dawn was far more capable of handling herself against demons than any other girl her age and it was high time the Scoobies put a little confidence in her. "I don't think that's necessary," Rain said icily, "go ahead and talk to Ang.."
Suddenly Rain felt a stabbing pain in her head. She screamed, clutching her head. Images flashed through her mind, like a movie of still frames.
She was in the middle of a burning city, people were running around her screaming. Fire burned in the background, creating an eerie skyline. A man gripped her arms; a tall, dark man with spiky black hair who towered over her. His angelic face was misshapen into a devilish visage. Two puncture wounds bled sluggishly at the juncture of her neck and shoulder. She knew she should be scared, that this devil-man was going to kill her and yet a small voice whispered in her mind that she wasn’t going to die, that she would be ok. The man grinned, revealing bloody fangs...
Rain came back to reality flat on her back on the sidewalk, staring up at the starry night sky. Her head ached horribly. She failed at the attempt to sit up and collapsed back onto the ground, thoroughly nausious.

He didn't even try to defend himself towards Dawn's small outbursts. Dark eyes watched as Willow took command and requested to speak with him. Talking to Willow would be easy, he could admit to what was going on. He trusted Willow and knew that she wouldn't share anything with Buffy unless it needed to be shared. If Dawn and Rain were listening in there wasn't much he could say. He knew that whatever he said in front of them would get out.
When Rain responded by telling Willow that Dawn should be allowed to hear whatever it was they were going to talk about this infuriated and impressed him. The demon definitely was ballzy, but this wasn't the time or place. "Listen, while I respect that you are sticking up for Dawn this is not a public conversation. I'd like to keep it that way. So why don't-" Before he could even get the rest of the sentence out Rain was flat on the pavement screaming in agony.
He watched her writhe for a second or two before it stopped and she came back from whatever it was that had happened. Standing over her, he extended a hand, "What did you see?" Yet, he had an inkling he already knew.

The beautiful stars were soon blocked by the spikey haired Vampire. Reacting on instinct because she was royally pissed Rain kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying. "What the bloody hell!" she roared standing up from the ground and still fighting the sudden wave of nausea that came with the movement.
Ignoring Dawn and Willow completely Rain stalked toward the Vampire. "You are going to tell me what the hell I was doing at the fucking Boxer Rebellion," she growled in his face, emphasising every word with a jab to his undead chest. "Why did you try and kill me? What did I do to you?!"
