Angel scanned the several graves looking for Buffy. He figured she'd be out patrolling. The night seemed quiet, but he knew it wouldn't last long. He found something in one of the open graves that troubled him and he heard rumblings around town that gave him reason to be troubled.
Suddenly he felt a presence from behind and spun around, but the vampire pounced on him before he was able to prepare himself for an attack.
"Where is it?" The vampire hissed, trying to hold Angel down.
"Can't tell you where 'it' is if you don't tell me what 'it' is." He punched the vampire hard with his right hand and was able to get up. He knew what the vampire was looking for but it didn't hurt to play dumb for a while. It kept the vampire talking.
"It's ours. You can't just take it."
"Ever heard of finders keepers?" Angel said.
The vampire got angry and charged at him again. Angel dodged his attack.
"You don't know what you have in your possession. You can't even comprehend the power in it." He shook his head, distress showing in his animalistic eyes.
"How about you make me understand. Maybe I won't want it after all," Angel replied.
"It's not for you. It's for the captain. Morgan. He had a plan and we're going to carry it out. The curse has now spilled over into this world and we're going to take advantage of it. The night will last forever in this world when we're done. So you see, you have no business with it--you fight your own kind anyway. You're not on our side."
He charged at him again with a swing that Angel dodge again. Angel kicked him in the gut which caused him to stumble back.
Collecting himself the vampire said, "In your possession or not, you can't stop what's coming. Not here. Not now. It's already in motion. The curse has been brewing for hundreds of years." He laughed. "We just want to be the first to push it along. So hand it over."
Angel heard all he needed to hear. He pulled a stake out of his pocket and spun it. "Okay. Here," He said, before ramming it into his heart. "You still didn't tell me what 'it' you wanted. Be more clear next time." Angel said as the vampire went up in dust.
Angel sighed putting the stake back. He turned around, still searching for Buffy.

Buffy had been walking around aimlessly around the graveyard, until three vampires appeared at once. They seemed more annoyed to see her than they normally did and Buffy couldn't help but wonder why. They charged at her, aiming to kill her of course, but that proved just how dumb they were. After a battle of kicking and punching, she managed to stake them all. One in particular cried out just a second before he turned to dust, but Buffy couldn't make out what he had said. She then began to make her way over to the over side of the graveyard where she'd heard voices. "Oh great, must be a party for vamps... I've always wanted to be a gate-crasher."
She had her stake gripped tightly, ready to fight or strike. However, she stopped dead as her eyes landed on one familiar vampire. Angel. Buffy sighed, knowing with a aching heart that he was only around when he wanted to tell her something. Knowing she had to face him, Buffy waited until he was finished with the vampire, and again she was confused by the vampire's behaviour... then she heard his words. What was going on?
Once Angel was alone, Buffy strided to him and put on a smile. "Looking for someone in particular?" She twirled the stake in her hand and added, "So what's up this time?"

Xander wandered into the graveyard mocking Giles angrily, "Xander go help Buffy!" He grummbled, "oh yeah and potentially damage my own life" his said in his own voice. He stopped complaining when he heard voices in the distant. Must be Buffy and some vampires, he thought.
He headed towards the voices. It was Buffy alright and a vampire, just not the vampire he was hoping. It was Angel, he sighed in disappointment and made his way over to them.
"Hey, whats up?"

Angel saw Buffy come up to him. He also saw Xander in the distance. Great, he said to himself. "Hi," he said out loud. He glanced over his shoulder briefly just to see if there were any other surprises. His eyes then landed on Buffy again and a small smile appeared on his face. Even when he knew that he had to be the barer of bad news, he was always glad to see her.
"Eventful night, huh?" He said, gazing pass her just to make sure no one else was in the shadows. "I think I know why." He dug in his pocket and pulled out a gold medallion. "Found this in an open grave. And the vampires want it. The last one that attacked me said something about a captain. Captain Morgan? It has to do with some other world. I'm not sure, but whatever it is, it's not good. I thought you'd want to know about it."
He passed her the medallion.

Buffy gave Xander a little wave and her smile remained. However, she was wary of him being near Angel as it was more than a little obvious they disliked each other. But her attention was taken off Xander when Angel started to speak of a medallion and her eyes widened with interest. Buffy took hold on it when it was passed to her and she turned it over in her fingers, studying it.
"Another world?" She looked up and back to Angel. "Is there anything else you know? I mean, we need more information to fully know what's so great about this other world..." Buffy glanced at Xander, wondering what he was thinking about this.

"Oh, shiny" Xander said fascinated, he rushed over to Buffy and grabbed the medallion out of her hands. He inspected the medallion closely. The picture wasn't exactly Benjiman, but it did look expensive.
"What's it do?" He asked. His question was soon answered, his body began shaking and coughing violently. His eyes went a scary black, his vains rose to the top of his skin, he could almost feel them forcing their way out of his skin.
He fell to the ground in pain. A black, transparent cloud was slowly coming out of his mouth. He was having trouble breathing.
"Help...me!" He forced those words out, he struggled to take another breath.

Buffy gasped as Xander suddenly snatched the medallion out of her hands. She was about to grab it back when something weird and freaky happened.
"Xander!" Buffy gasped again. "What's happening?!" She asked Angel this with accusation, as if he'd somehow purposely done this. The other thing that shocked her was that nothing had happened to herself or Angel when they held it... so why Xander?
Without a second thought, Buffy bent down when Xander asked for help and yanked the medallion out of his hands. Strangely, it felt quite hot to the touch and she almost dropped it with surprise. Looking back to Xander, she waited to see if he would change back to normal.

As soon as the Buffy grabbed the medallion out of Xander's hands, the pain disappeared and so did the black, transparent cloud. His vains settled back into place. He wasn't going to admit it but he was very scared. Why did this happen to me? He thought, and not to Buffy or Angel.
"What the hell was that?!" He asked, still trying to catch his breath. He got up and leant against a tombstone. He felt really light and dizzy, his knees collapsed and he fell to the ground once again.

Buffy's expression was confused as she watched Xander change back. She rushed forward when he collapsed again but she didn't make it in time to catch him. She placed her hands under his arms and lifted him up from the ground. "Xander, maybe you should take it easy... we don't know what just happened or how it affected you."
When she'd gotten Xander up and on his feet again, she gazed back at Angel. "Well, now we're both sure... whatever this is, can't be good."

"I don't know," Angel said to Buffy. "All I know is that the vampires are looking for it and that means we should probably find out why they want it." When Xander grabbed the medallion Angel stepped forward saying, "Hey, wait. Be careful Xander, we don't know if--" Suddenly Xander started having some kind of attack. He came up to Xander when he fell on the ground, not sure what to do. But Buffy took away the medallion and Xander came back to normal.
"You okay?" Angel said and turned to Buffy when she addressed him. He furrowed his brow and shook his head. "This thing must have some kind of effect on normal humans. Let me look at it." Angel took the medallion and looked at the inscriptions more closely. There were words engraved on the edges.
"The writings...its something in Nahuati." He scanned his eyes over the words and tried to say them. "Monenemiliz amotech yancuic tlalli..." He looked up at them. "Maybe we should find out what it means..."
Suddenly the medallion started vibrate and glow a bright white light over all of them. Angel looked in awe.
"...guess it means open sesame."
Suddenly the light engulfed them until it was all they could see. Angel closed his eyes tightly and looked away, though it didn't help much. Inside he felt that he was moving, even though he felt stationary at the same time. An increasing pressure seem to push in his head until it seemed as if the white light was gone.
When he opened his eyes, he saw another type of brightness. And warmth.
Sunlight.
"Ah!" Angel cried and took his long duster jacket and threw it over his head...until he realized he wasn't burning up. He removed his jacket from over his head slowly, looking at the vast brightness of the daytime. They seemed to be on a ship of some sort, surrounded by ocean.
"Uh...why am I not in flames?" Angel asked squinting, not used to all of the brightness. "I'm not in flames am I?" He asked Buffy and Xander, just to make sure.

As the light began to engulf them, Xander just had to yell at Angel. Thinking aww can't Angel do anything right. "Rule number one! Never read anything in Nahuti aloud, even though I've never heard of it till today."
The light began to get brighter, so he covered his eyes but it didn't help much. He began swaying, much like you do when you're in a boat.
When the light finally disappeared, he found himself along with Buffy and Angel on a boat in the sea. "Uh...why am I not in flames?" Angel asked squinting, not used to all of the brightness. "I'm not in flames am I?"
"Your not in flames, but I have no idea why". Xander slapped Angel on the arm, "why did you read that?!" It wasn't so much a question then a reason to yell at him.

Buffy listened to Angel in a daze... she was still shocked at what had happened to Xander when he held the medallion. However, she broke out of it when Angel began to speak in another language, then she looked over to see he was reading it off the medallion! "Angel, maybe you shouldn't..." Buffy couldn't continue then as a white light surrounded them.
As the bright light disappeared, Buffy suddenly felt the ground below them moving... or it more felt like rocking. She opened her eyes, which she hadn't realised she'd shut, to see water surrounding them. "What the?" Then she heard what Angel said about the sunlight and she looked at him in amazement. "Well, there's a first time for everything."
Xander was yelling at Angel about reading it and Buffy had to agree with him. "No, you're fine, Angel. But he's right... why did you read that?" Since her voice was calmer than Xander's, she was hoping he would answer. It seemed like a dumb thing to do, seeing as he should know all about ancient things.

"Okay look!" Angel said. "How was I supposed to know what it meant? What are the odds that it translated into 'open portal please'?" He paused , his eyes darting from Xander to Buffy. "Rhetorical question." He sighed. "Well we wanted to know what it is and now we do and we still have the medallion so we can get back, and did I mention that I'm not in flames??" He looked up at the sky, his eyes squinting and jaw dropped in wonder, seeing the daylight after so long.
He turned around as he was looking at the sky and when he lowered his eyes, he made eye contact with a man in dreadlocks coming out of the cabin. The man grimaced before walking up to the group. He had an unsteady, unbalanced swagger in his step as he peered at them, sizing them up. He paced around Angel, to Buffy, to Xander, his hands held up by his sides. Angel watched his every ...peculiar move.
"Now then," He said, lifting a finger in towards all of them. "I must say I've seen my share of interesting circumstances but I have yet to see something quite like this. I shall check it off my list of interesting circumstances I have yet to see. Now I have two very important questions for you lads..." The man's dark eyes made a face at Buffy. "....er, lass. I suggest ye answer them accordingly. And when I say accordingly I mean according to yer very best interests because if ye havent noticed, we're surrounded by water. Water you all will have a very good chance of meeting if ye answers aren't answered....accordingly." He cleared his throat. "Number one, how in th' blazes did ye get on my bloody ship?"
He turned to Angel, "And who are you? You don't look so well mate. Apparently th' sun has done nothing for your skin."
Angel's eyes shifted uneasily. "Uh..." He gazed at Buffy and then at the man, hesitating and not sure how to answer even his first question.

"Well we wanted to know what it is and now we do and we still have the medallion so we can get back, and did I mention that I'm not in flames??"
"Once or twice" he said sarcastically. He looked around the ship, trying to find any indication to how to get back home. He was looking in the direction, when he heard an unfamilar voice.
"Uhh...Uhh" he said speechless to the man that had just arrived. He stared at the man, his goatee annoying him, just dangaling there, free. He had an overwhelming desire to cut it off. He glanced at Buffy for words.
"Who are you?" He mumbled.

Buffy held up her hands as Angel defended himself. "Okay okay, what's done is done and like you said... we should be able to get back the same way..." She glanced at the medallion and looked pleading, adding, "...right?"
However, the sight of a unfamiliar and strange looking man approaching them made her forget about Angel for a moment. His movement distracted her more than anything else and her eyes widened when she studied him. Then he began to talk, but all Buffy could understand was his last question about how they were on... his ship? She looked from Angel to Xander and sighed when they looked at her expectantly.
"Oh, so you're the Captain... of this fine ship. Great! Suppose you can tell us where we are exactly?" Buffy smiled, hoping she looked polite but she couldn't help but be interested in his looks. "We seem to be... lost?" Now she looked confused herself, knowing this man couldn't possibly accept that they just happened to become lost on a ship in the middle of the ocean.
"I'm Buffy by the way... and you are?"
