It was raining hard. The windshield wipers were at their top speed, and he could barely see through the windshield. Sitting in the parking lot of the Sunnydale Hospital he waited. His hands gripped the steering wheel, his already pale knuckles whitened to almost translucency. Tonight, he had been informed, was not only a blood donation exchange, but an old informant of his had promised some information about a new player. Someone that could really turn the tables in the town. The man had been vague about whether or not it was good or bad information that he was passing on. However, the phrase "turn the tables" wasn't settling well with Angel.
Eyes stared straight toward the back emergency entrance of the hospital. He was stressed. He hoped that everything would go smoothly with the blood and that if there was a hustle he could clear it up quickly. Yet with the pouring rain it might take longer to transport, giving other vampires a longer window of opportunity to grab what they wanted and take off. Then there was this whole situation with being back in Sunnydale. He wasn't sure where he and Buffy stood at the moment. Which had him on edge. He knew it was going to take time for her to get use to him being around again and that he was really going to have to prove himself and he respected that. And then finally there was this new information. It was all just a jumble.

Buffy hated walking in the rain, especially the pouring sort she was in now. But Giles had insisted she intercept the blood donation at the local hospital, having no doubt the vampires would be after it. She pulled her raincoat tighter around herself, already beginning to shiver. If only she had her licence so she could drive there, keeping her dry and warm. And if only Cordy didn't make excuses to give her a lift... and after all she'd done for the brunette too.
These thoughts took her mind off the walk and she was there before she knew it. There was no sign of an ambush yet... nothing in fact, except a car in the distance. The rain was too heavy to see the vehicle properly but she was sure it wasn't them. Wiping strands of soaking wet hair off her face, she peered around uselessly. If the vampires didn't show, maybe the owner of the car would be kind enough to drive her back home to safety?
Buffy suddenly had a funny feeling... like she knew the driver. She now looked at the car's windshield and glimpsed black hair. Her heart skipped a beat... could it really be him or was her mind playing tricks on her? She had to admit, she was so glad Angel was back in her life, even though it was often awkward and uncomfortable when they conversed. She hoped to change that, though... she just had to convince herself she could trust him again. The whole Angelus deal still hadn't healed and she was always afraid that she would cause him to lose his soul once again and doom them all.

He sat there ruminating over all of these matters for half an hour or so. Eyes trained on the hospital in front of him waiting for the trade to go down. Sitting in his car waiting for a blood donation was not exactly the way he wanted to be spending his night. The sooner this went down, the better. As time passed he was getting less and less patient.
Then through the rain, a blonde figure appeared, he felt her strong presence that made him infatuated and immediately he knew it was Buffy. His grip on the steering wheel relaxed slightly. He hadn't expected to see her here tonight. Of course, he'd momentarily forgotten that Giles sometimes sent her to watch over blood transactions. He was an idiot, if he had remembered he could have called her and offered to watch over this by himself to give her a break. Or if she'd still insisted on coming he could have at least given her a ride. Regardless, he was glad that she was here. Their interactions since his arrival home were anything but what they use to be. He missed her and any chance to see her and patch up what had been broken he would gladly take.
He was just about to roll down the window and invite her into the car when the donor van pulled into sight stopping in front of the double doors. Pocketing his keys and swinging open the car door he stepped out of the car, the rain pelting onto his dry form, and once he was out his hand pushed it shut. Staying back a ways he observed the periphery, making sure that they did not have any unwanted guests. "Hey Buffy." He said with a nod as his eyes fell upon her form before continuing to scan their surroundings.
